Moscow will host an urgent meeting of the Collective Security Treaty
Organization member states. The meeting has been called by Russian
President Dmitry Medvedev, who is currently head of the post-Soviet
security group. It is expected that the meeting will see discussion of
inter-ethnic clashes in Kyrgyzstan's south. Kyrgyz representatives
will also participate in the meeting, ITAR-TASS reports.
Medvedev also announced that additional Russian troops will be sent to
Kyrgyzstan in order to secure the safety of Russian servicemen and
their families at the Kant military base near the Kyrgyz capital of
Bishkek.
