Iranian foreign minister comments on nuclear program

Iran will not abandon its nuclear gains, Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said, commenting on the situation around its nuclear program two weeks before the talks with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany, ITAR-TASS reports.

Salehi reminded that Iran has been pressurized for 33 years since 1979. He said that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the military, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, militia and the whole nation are protecting Iran.

Iran will have a new round of talks with the six mediators in Istanbul on April 13-14. The previous talks were held in January 2011 and were fruitless. Tehran still refuses to scrap the nuclear program and assures that it is of peaceful nature.
