The Stadium of Sultan Bilimkhanov in Grozny saw on Tuesday the opening of the Caucasus football cup for the disabled to commemorate first Chechen President Akhmad Kadyrov, the press service of the Chechen government reports.
Chechen Minister for Physical Education, Sports and Tourism Haydar Alkhanov, President of the Russian Football Federation of the Handicapped Georgy Lunacharsky and Grozny Mayor Muslim Khuchiyev and other officials attended the opening.
Football players arrived from Barnaul, Kemerovo, Bryansk, Volgograd and Nizhny Novgorod. The Lamanaz team of Chechnya will play.
A demonstration match of disabled players was held, resulting in a 2:2 draw.
The Olympic Stadium of Grozny will hold the first games of the Russian Championship and the Big Cup of the Caucasus on Wednesday.
