Russian Minister for Emergencies Sergey Shoygu, approved as the Governor of the Moscow Region on Thursday, says that the capital of Russia should be in Siberia, RIA Novosti reports.
Shoygu was born in Tuva and has pointed out the need to develop the region on numerous occasions. He recommended Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to form a corporation for development of Eastern Siberia and the Far East, from the western borders of Krasnodar Territory to Kamchatka, the Kuril Ridge and Sakhalin.
Media expected the minister to become the president of the state corporation. But Russian President Dmitry Medvedev made Shoygu the Governor of the Moscow Region.
