The Senate of Kazakhstan (upper chamber) has ratified the deal with Spain on transit of military cargo and staff through its territory to Afghanistan today, RIA Novosti reports.
The document was signed in Astana in July 2009. It sets the order of cargo transport by Spanish aircraft to assist the international mission in Afghanistan, the committee for international relations, defense and security says.
The permit for transit will be issued by Kazakhstan annually. Madrid is to inform Astana about flights 24 hours beforehand, with a detailed plan of flight.
The president is yet to sign the document.
