The New York Times has published a report stating that US President Barack Obama will announce his conditions for the Iranian nuclear program, ANS reports.
Iranian officials and permanent members of the UN Security Council will have a meeting this week. The New York Times says that Iran may receive permission for civil nuclear energy in exchange for abandoning plans for nuclear weapons.
US and European diplomats have called the plan “Iran’s Last Chance”. One of its points is a demand for Iran to close a nuclear facility deep under a mountain in Kum.
Other conditions are a demand to stop uranium enrichment and export of 100 kg of 20%-enriched uranium to a different state.
Israeli sources say that Iran will not abandon its plans for nuclear weapons. It will only halt the program at best.
The Israeli Defense Ministry has warned that Iran has 120 kg of 20%-enriched uranium and will need a few months to enrich it to 90% for the nuclear bomb.
