The State Duma Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building has supported the idea of introducing a single day for voting at
elections, RIA Novosti reports, referring to the chairman of the
committee, Vladimir Pligin.
At the meeting the committee members discussed the draft of the LDPR
faction, proposing the establishment of a single day of voting in March.
Currently, elections take place twice a year - in March and
October.
The introduction of a single day of voting for the elections of
leaders at various levels, including heads of federation subjects, have
previously been discussed at a meeting between Russian President
Dmitry Medvedev and representatives of the regions in early April. The
president called the idea "reasonable."
