Despite violations during elections of the Astrakhan mayor, the CEC has no reasons to cancel vote results, Deputy Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission Leonid Ivlev said, RIA Novosti reports.
Oleg Shein, who lost the elections, failed to prove that the elections were unfair, Ivlev said on Wednesday. The registered violations were insufficient to affect the vote results, the CEC head goes on.
Oleg Shein and his supporters organized a hunger strike on March 16. Mikhail Stolyarov won the elections with 60% o votes on March 4, Shein got less than 30%.
