Georgian peacekeepers receive 28 US armored vehicles

 

The US Defense Department has sent 28 mine-resistant ambush protected vehicles (MRAP) from Poti to the Krtsanissky Training Center near Tbilisi by railway, Trend reports.

The vehicles will be used to train Georgian soldiers planning to take part in US military operations in Afghanistan as part of the ISAF forces this summer. US troops will supervise the training process.

Thus, Georgia plans to have a total of 1700 people operating in Afghanistan. Georgia has already lost 15 troops in NATO operations in Afghanistan.

Russia has made numerous protests against US shipments of weapons to Georgia.
