Istanbul hosts 15th Eurasian Economic Summit

 

Istanbul is hosting the 15th Eurasian Economic Summit at the congress center named after Lutfi Kyrdar today. It was organized by the Fund for Strategic and Social Studies of the Marmara Group for heads of states and governments, MPs, ministers and religious figures.

SalamNews said that 200 guests from 50 states are attending.

Turkish Speaker of Parliament Jemil Cicek and Minister for European Union Affairs Egemen Bagis are expected to make speeches.

Talks will stress on economic and energy issues, inter-cultural dialogue and women’s leadership.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev sent a greeting letter, noting improvement of economic, political and humanitarian ties between states of the region, plans for transnational projects. He reminded about geopolitical, geoeconomic and strategic interests, ecological situation that provoke economic recessions and social tensions.

Sheikh Ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, Grand Mufti of the Caucasus, made a speech at the summit on inter-cultural dialogue. He noted the role of Azerbaijan in religion, calling it one of the most tolerant states.

Ekrem Demirtas, Chairman of the Trade Chamber, noted that the second session of the summit in Izmir will discuss poverty and unemployment. Deputy ministers, MPs, diplomats and scientists from 38 states, as well as 245 guests, will attend the talks. The session in Izmir will conclude the summit.
