Umarov to be arrested for Putin 'assassination attempt'

The FSB has ordered arrest of militant leader Doku Umarov for organizing an assassination attempt on Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, Kommersant reports.

His henchmen Adam Osmayev and Olya Pyanzin were arrested in Ukraine. They were preparing in Odessa after their visit to the UK and UAE. Ruslan Madayev was their assistant. They were studying bomb construction, but a blast killed Madayev.

They admitted that they were operating under Doku Umarov’s command.

The FSB did not demand the Lefortovsky Court to give pre-trial orders for Umarov on March 16, possibly because one arrest for the blast that killed 36 people at the Domodedovo Airport in Moscow was enough. The blast happened on January 24, 2011.
