Former Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar has been arrested for corruption, RIA Novosti reports.
The police stopped his car on Thursday night. His bodyguards saved him from the arrest. The ex-president was taken to a nearby building. About 300 special police officers started breaking into the building at 6 am.
E. Amarbat, head of the Investigation Department of the Independent Anti-Corruption Service of Mongolia, says that Enkhbayar was suspected in corruption, but has never arrived for questioning. Enkhbayar has been the country’s president, prime minister and speaker of parliament at different times.
