The first group of UN observers has arrived in Damascus for realization of the peace plan proposed by Kofi Annan, special envoy of the UN and the Arab League.
The six observers will start work today, spokesman of the UN Department for Peacekeeping Operations Kieran Duaner said, Associated Press reports.
A total of 30 observers are planned to be sent to Syria. Annan hopes for 200. The next groups of observers will arrive in Damascus this week.
