Azerbaijani, Russian border guards hold joint drills in Caspian Sea

Joint military drills of the Azerbaijani and Russian border guards have been held in the Caspian Sea.

The forces, which participated in drills to "identify and prevent terrorist activities" as well as "smuggling, illegal drug trafficking, illegal immigration and other illegal activities in the Caspian Sea basin," , demonstrated high combat effectiveness and fully accomplished their missions, Trend reports, citing the Azerbaijani State Border Service. The exercises were aimed at working out joint activities in the sphere of maritime border defense.

Border ships, high-speed boats, mobile groups and border aviation were involved in the exercises.
