Another person suspected accused of attempting to assassinate Abkhaz President Alexander Ankvab has committed a suicide at a detention center in Sukhumi, RIA Novosti reports.
Timur Khutaba hanged himself on Tuesday night.
The police say that the other suspect Murman Sakania attempted to cut his throat when being arrested. The police cannot give details until the case ends.
Vestnik Kavkaza reported on April 17 that Aslambey Kchach, Police General, former Interior Minister of Abkhazia and head of the ex-President Vladislav Ardzinba’s security, shot himself during the arrest in Gagra. He was suspected of attacking Ankvab’s convoy.
The police arrested 6 suspects on April 12. They had guns, ammo and narcotics. Four of them were detained.
President Alexander Ankvab’s convoy was attacked on the outskirts of Gudaut at 8.25 am on February 22. Two bodyguards died.
