Spokesman of the Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin said that his structure is planning to form a special section for crimes against police officers and other law enforcers, RIA Novosti reports.
The FSB is expected to take active part investigations of such crimes. The section will be formed from investigative directorates in federal districts and main investigative directorates of Moscow, Moscow Region and St. Petersburg.
Special attention will be paid to police crimes after a social outcry over the case at the Dalny Police Station where police officers tortured a suspect to death. Five police officers were arrested and fired. The police chief of Tatarstan was dismissed.
Markin said that some police officers use their knowledge and skills for own interests, complicating cases and avoiding punishments. The new section will work on preventing police crimes.
