Azerbaijani and Ukrainian relations are becoming strategic, Ukrainian Speaker of Parliament Vladimir Litvin said in Baku today, Trend reports.
The two states have a wide range of opportunities for cooperation in many spheres. Litvin called them strategic allies at a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Oktay Asadov. Azerbaijan and Ukraine have common historic origins. They have signed over 120 interstate and intergovernmental agreements.
Asadov noted that Ukraine has over 500,000 Azerbaijani natives and they play a key role in socio-economic development and improvement of bilateral relations. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict causes major obstacles to development of Azerbaijan and maintenance of peace in the region, Asadov said.
Litvin expressed hope for further development of friendly ties with Azerbaijan.
