Chechen PM may become Khloponin’s deputy

 

Chechen Prime Minister Odes Baysultanov has been dismissed and is now under consideration as a candidate to become a deputy of Alexander Khloponin, Russian Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District, RIA Novosti reports.

The previous deputy Suleiman Vagapov left the position.

A spokesman of Chechen governmental administration said that Baysultanov is on vacation and cannot comment on the information. Rumors about his candidacy as Khloponin’s deputy are old. Baysultanov does not plan to get his old position back.

The two candidates to take the vacant position are Baysultanov’s deputies: Chechen Finances Minister Eli Isayev and Road Minister Abubakar Tumkhajiyev.

Odes Baysultanov has headed the government since April 2007. He became the secretary of the political council of the Chechen branch of the United Russia Party in 2008, he was also a member of the General Council of the party.
