Israel to attack Iranian nuclear facilities

Benny Gantz, Commander of the Israeli Defense Forces, said that they are ready to strike Iranian nuclear facilities, RBC reports.

The official called 2012 a critical moment. He said that Israel is the only country in the world threatened with destruction.

The commander does not expect a war in 2012, although he said the situation in the Middle East could worsen. Should a regional war start, Israel would be prepared for missile attacks from Lebanon and Gaza.

US President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in early March and discussed diplomatic means to resolve the conflict to settle the Iranian nuclear program.
