Turkish army carries out land-air operation in North Iraq

The Turkish army carried out a land-air operation in northern Iraq
against bases of the Kurdish Workers' Party (the PKK), RIA Novosti
reports, citing the General Headquarters of the Turkish Armed Forces.


At least 4 militants of the PKK were killed. The Turkish aviation was
bombing enemy mortar and AA gun emplacements for 45 minutes.
The conflict with the Kurdish Workers' Party, which has been trying to
gain autonomy in the south-east of Turkey, has taken over 40,000
lives. The UN and the EU recognize the party as a terrorist
organization.
