United Russia supreme council chief may resign

Boris Gryzlov, head of the supreme council of the United Russia Party, may resign as part of the reorganization of the administrative system of the party, RIA Novosti reports.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, leader of United Russia, will meet party members on Tuesday and discuss preparations for the upcoming assembly to adjust the charter. Putin may pass his leadership in the party to President Dmitry Medvedev.

Igor Bunin, Director General of the Center for Political Technologies, says that Gryzlov may resign. The party has the supreme and general councils. The supreme council determines the party’s strategy, the assembly, the general council and the presidium of the general council supervise the party.

Dmitry Orlov, Director General of the Agency for Political and Economic Communications said that the party will undergo major structural changes.
