US not planning Russia-NATO council session

The US is not preparing for a session of the Russia-NATO council in Chicago within the framework of the summit on May 20-21, spokeswoman of the US State Department Victoria Nuland said, RIA Novosti reports.

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Thursday that Russia was invited for  extended talks on Afghanistan. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted on Thursday that Russia has not determined its part.

Russia has been striving to attend regular meetings of ISAF participants in Brussels for 5-6 years.
