A group of 21 Lithuanian MPs has requested the European Parliament to evaluate the Khojaly Massacre. The request marks the 20th anniversary of the tragedy and expresses solidarity with Azerbaijan and regrets that people responsible for murders have not been punished yet, 1news.az reports.
Authors of the document compare the process with the war in Yugoslavia. The MPs also remind about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, emphasizing on the need to immediate fulfillment of the European Parliament’s resolution passed on May 20, 2010. The resolution condemns Armenian occupation of Azerbaijani territories.
The Lithuanian MPs expressed hope that the European Parliament will approve the initiative so that the massacre would never be forgotten in Europe. Signatures were put by Emanuelis Zingeris, Egidiyus Vareykis, Arunas Valinskas and others.
