Addressing the State Council, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev stressed that reform of the Russian army is one of the main priorities of the government.
"Military reform and implementation of the state defense programme is the government's priority for the next several years," President Medvedev said.
Vladimir Yevseyev, member of the Social and Political Research Center, told VK that the present condition of the Russian army is terrifying and government attempts to change the situation should be appreciated.
The Russian army needs a serious upgrade, Yevseyev says. This means that the government should either buy new military equipment or produce it within the country, the expert believes.
