Georgian soldier killed by landmine in Afghanistan

A Georgian serviceman in Afghanistan has been killed by a landmine, News Georgia reports.

Sergeant Valerian Khujadze served as part of the 31st battalion of ISAF forces in the Helmand Province. He started service in 2004 and also served in Iraq. He received a medal for peacekeeping operations.

175 Georgian soldiers and officers serve in Kabul, at the responsibility zone of France. About 750 more soldiers serve in Helmand, the zone of responsibility of the US.

President Mikheil Saakashvili ordered another infantry battalion to enter Afghanistan in late 2011.
