Parties should find a compromise solution to Caspian Sea status problem - former Russian energy minister

Today Moscow hosted the Caspian Dialogue forum, held under the auspices of the Russian energy ministry, the Russian foreign ministry and the Russian Trade and Industry Chamber.

VK asked former Russian energy minister Viktor Kolyuzhny to comment on the situation surrounding the Caspian Sea's legal status.

"I believe that the fact the parties signed a preliminary agreement is a very positive sign," Kolyuzhny says. "However, it seems to me that Russia is now less interested in the matter than previously," he adds.

Kolyuzhny believes that Russia should pay more attention to the problem and that the issue should be discussed by the leaders of the countries involved in the controversy.

"The parties should find a compromise solution to the problem," he says.
