Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has expressed disappointment with the rate of diversification of the Russian economy and promised to take measures.
According to Medvedev, the diversification process was going well. Industrial output had increased by 50%. Production of electronics had increased by 30%. But 70% of all exports are hydrocarbons, 5% are engineering equipment.
Marianna Maksimovskaya of the REN TV channel asked the first question. Medvedev said that some governors are suspected of corruption, some cases against them are being investigated and some governors had escaped punishment.
The president noted that he had dismissed 50% of regional governors.
