European Parliament president believes in EU collapse

President of the European Parliament Martin Schultz (Germany) does not rule out separation of the European Union, RIA Novosti reports.

Schultz made a speech for European commissioners and noted that EU leaders are unsatisfied with the collective decision-making method.

The budget stability agreement signed by 26 EU states in early March is an attempt to build a budget union bypassing the European Commission without control of the European Parliament. Schultz expressed concerns over France and Germany trying to restore control over the Shengen Zone and the escalating xenophobia.

The EP president wants more active cooperation between the European Commission and the European Parliament to prevent “summitization” and “renationalization”.
