Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has appointed General-Colonel Vladimir Chirkin, Commander of the Central Military District, as Commander of the Russian Army, RIA Novosti reports.
General-Colonel Valery Gerasimov, Deputy Chief of General Staff, has become the Commander of the Central Military District.
