The Central Electoral Commission of Georgia, US Embassy and US Agency for International Development have signed a cooperation memorandum, Georgia Online reports.
The sides are negotiating an impartial and clear electoral atmosphere and fair elections. The document is based on the four-year project for electoral improvement ITEP.
The document was signed by CEC Chairman Zurab Kharatishvili, USAID head in Georgia Steven Heikin, US Ambassador John Bas and head of the Georgian office of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems Nermin Nisich. A grant will be provided to the latter for implementing support in Georgia.
The sides agreed to support development of the electoral system, reforms, education, development of strategic and operative plan of CEC work, improvement of communication between administration and society.
