Ardeshir Saad Mohammadi, Director General of the Iranian National Copper-Smelting Industry, said that Iran produced 235,000 tons cathode copper and takes seventh position on the list of the most copper-rich states, Iran News reports.
Geological explorations increased estimated copper reserves from 14.4 to 21.3 million tons. Iran used to be tenth on the list.
Iran plans projects worth a total of about $6.5 billion to increase copper production to 700,000 tons annually in 4 years. Iranian oil has one of the highest qualities in the world.
