Four people were killed as a result of a mine explosion in the Iranian city of Susangerd, Trend reports, referring to the Iranian news agency Mehr.
The victims were employees of a private company which operated in the mined area.
The town of Susangerd is located 65 kilometers from the city of Ahwaz. In 1980, during the Iran-Iraq War, Iraqi troops captured Susangerd for three days.
The war between Iran and Iraq lasted from 1980 to 1988 over the strategically-important strait between Iran and Iraq and the Shatt al-Arab River. The war ended in August 1988. Each country has restored its pre-war positions.
