US trying to find pretext for war with Iran - Sergey Mikheyev

Last year the Caspian region was placed in the center of public attention, as the United States decided to help Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan with modernization of these countries' naval forces. The action caused vehement criticism from both Russia and Iran. VK asked Sergey Mikheyev, the head of the Strategic Situation Center, to comment on the issue.

"The United States is preparing for a war with Iran. However, the US probably won't start it. Israel will, and the US will then support its ally," Mikheyev says.

The United States is now trying to find a pretext for a war with Iran, the experts believes.

The US is also trying to receive backing from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. All this is necessary for a successful operation against the Islamic Republic, Mikheyev says.
