Armenian special services to provide parties with data on voters

The National Security Service of Armenia has agreed to give political parties updated information on voters, as stated by David Arutyunyan, deputy head of the central electoral office of the Republican Party of Armenia, News Armenia reports.

The National Security Service agreed and will give its final answer on May 3. Political parties need to give guarantees that information will only be used during the elections. Prosperous Armenia joined the initiative.

Arutyunyan said on April 28 that the Republican Party, Dashnaktsutyun, Democratic Party, Communist Party and Orinats Yerkir were negotiating use of information of border guards to check citizens for presence in Armenia.

Armenia will hold parliamentary polls on May 6 with 8 parties and a bloc running.

They include the Republican Party, Prosperous Armenia, Orinats Yerkir, Dashnaktsutyun, Heritage, Armenian National Congress, Democratic Party, Communist Party and United Armenians. Experts expect the main struggle between the Republican Party, Prosperous Armenia and the Armenian National Congress.
