The UN will continue supporting Azerbaijani efforts to build a prosperous and democratic future for the country, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said at a special meeting on the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijani membership in the UN in New York on Thursday, ITAR-TASS reports.
The secretary general said that Azerbaijan is actively cooperating with the UN and its foundations. As a temporary member in the UN Security Council in 2012-2013, Azerbaijan concentrates efforts on supporting peace and security.
Ban Ki-moon pointed out the topicality of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s policy to combat challenges of international peace and security caused by terrorist attacks. He reminded that the General Assembly will have a review of global counter-terrorism strategies of the UN for the third time in June.
