An explosion took place in Yerevan during a pre-electoral rally of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia.
According to eyewitnesses, gas-filled balloons suddenly exploded, injuring people standing in close proximity to the scene, News Armenia reports. According to the latest information, two children became victims of the blast. Overall, 66 people were hospitalized, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
The rally took place in front of the Yerevan Opera and Ballet House. It was attended by approximately more than 15 thousand people. According to various sources the explosion took place around 19:30-19:55 GMT.
