Full and efficient realization of the potential of the Caspian Sea is of strategic importance, especially for Turkmenistan, the president goes on.

Berdimuhamedov observed a report about activities in the Caspian Sea. He was informed that Turkmenistan is taking a most active part in developing a convention on the status of the Caspian Sea with the deputy foreign ministers of the 4 other states.

According to the second and third meetings of heads of Caspian states in Iran and Azerbaijan respectively, the sides are forming a new legal basis for cooperation in the sea.

Turkmenistan has already passed a national action plan for the Caspian. Its realization is carried out by related ministries and international organizations, such as the UN Development Program, the UN Ecological Program, the Global Environment Fund and the World Bank.
