Lawmakers of Stavropol Territory have elected Acting Governor Valery Zerenko as the Incumbent Governor, RIA Novosti reports.
45 out of 50 deputies voted for the candidate.
Vestnik Kavkaza reported that Dmitry Medvedev dismissed the previous governor, Valery Gayevsky, and proposed three candidates to the United Russia Party on Friday. One of them was Zerenkov. The others were Dmitry Samatov, Minister for Industry, Energy and Transport of Stavropol Territory, and Lev Travnev, Mayor of Pyatigorsk.
