The Kofi Annan peace plan for Syria is working and the UN ceasefire control is effective, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov wrote on his Twitter micro blog, RIA Novosti informs.
A team of UN observers is in Syria to monitor the ceasefire as part of the Annan plan.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in a telephone conversation with the UN and Arab League Special Representative for Syria Kofi Annan, reiterated Moscow’s support for his plan but stressed that both the Syrian government and the opposition must abide by it.
