His first meeting as the head of the state, Russian president Vladimir Putin held with the International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge.
Putin assured the head of the IOC's that the Russian authorities will give maximum attention to preparing for the Olympic Games in Sochi despite the political processes in the coutnry.
"Despite our political events, I want to assure you that the presidential structures, the Russian government and me personally will give priority to it- we attach great importance to the preparations for the Olympic Games in 2014", Putin said at a meeting with Rogge.
