Russia lifts embargo on sales of weapons to Libya

Russia has lifted the embargo on selling weapons to Libya, RIA Novosti reports.


Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's decree of May 9, 2011, allows sales of all materials. The disorders in Libya in February 2011 resulted in Russia losing contracts worth $4 billion.


Libya had a military coup in 2011, resulting in Muammar Gaddafi, who was at power for over 40 years, killed.
