Russian State Duma discusses Medvedev's candidacy for PM

The State Duma, the lower chamber of the Russian parliament, is discussing Dmitry Medvedev's candidacy for the prime minister's office, RIA Novosti reports.

Newly-elected President Vladimir Putin suggested Medvedev's candidacy to the country's lawmakers on Monday, right after his inauguration.

The ruling United Russia party and the populist LDPR party are expected to vote in favour, the Communist party and the socialist A Just Russia party are going to oppose Medvedev's candidacy.
