11 more generals have been arrested in Turkey on charges of trying to organize a coup on February 28, 1997, ITAR-TASS reports.
They were sent to prisons of the Sincan and Mamak Districts. They include the marshal of aviation and five general-majors. They were arrested on May 8. Searches were organized at 15 houses of generals in 9 provinces.
The first searches and arrests were held in early April 2012. Over 30 people are still under arrest, including high-ranking authorities of the General Staff. They are suspected of attempting to take over power on February 28. It was the last attempt, also called the post-modern coup. Although it was not a violent process, the prosecutors say that it harmed development of the country.
