Valery Serdyukov, Governor of the Leningrad Region, has filed a resignation note, RIA Novosti reports.
The message was posted on Twitter on Thursday. Serdyukov’s terms of office end in July 2012. The United Russia Party has not put him on the list of candidates to retake the position.
Drozdenko was introduced by the president as the new governor of the region.
