Leader of European Liberal Democrats supports diplomatic solution to Karabakh conflict

The Karabakh conflict is one of the most complex of the so-called frozen conflicts,  the head of the European Liberal Democrat and Reform faction, Graham Watson, told a press conference in Yerevan on May 11, reports NEWS.am.

Watson noted that the word "frozen" is not very precise, because if the conflict was frozen, there would be no deaths as a result of shootings. He says that the conflict is frozen in the way that it is difficult to move forward the process of regulating it.

Watson also added that he supports the EU approach of using diplomatic ways to solve problems one by one: "I am delighted that we register very considerable progress in resolving the dispute between Moldova and Transdniestria. I hope that this progress will help to build confidence between the EU and Russia, which will help us register progress in other similar conflicts."

He also said that he does not judge who is right or wrong: "But one thing I know: armed conflict has never decided who is right or wrong. Armed conflict simply decides who stays alive."
