Stavropol Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Belolapenko has resigned voluntarily, Rossiiskaya Gazeta reports. Belolapenko headed the Cabinet of Ministers with responsibility for domestic policy in the region under the former governor Valery Gayevsky that was dismissed by the Russian president on May 2.
The reason for the resignation of Belolapenko, according to preliminary information, was the large number of claims against him by the new governor Valery Zerenkov.
On May 5 the government of Stavropol was dismissed, but ministers are still working with the prefix "Acting". Responding to reporters' questions at his first press conference, Valery Zerenkov said that he is against the radical personnel changes and does not plan to fire all the old team. However, if people cannot or do not want to work, they will leave because of their inability to catch up with the pace that Zerenkov expects from his subordinates.
