U.S.-Iran trade turnover hits $230 mln

The trade turnover between Iran and the United States hit $230 million last year even when they were locked in a standoff over Iran's nuclear programme, Trend reports.

Although trade between the two countries has slowed down to a trickle it hasn't stopped completely despite their political differences. Iran has recently imported wheat from the U.S., Deputy Trade Minister Hamid Safdel said.

The U.S. has made it tougher for Iran to import its goods to that country, deputy trade minister said.

The international community has levied heavy sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program which Iran stressed as peaceful.
