New biometric passports will be introduced in the first half of 2011, deputy chief of the Armenian police Artur Osikyan said at a hearing on police reforms, Novosti Armenia reports.
According to him the corresponding bill will be introduced at the autumn session of the National Assembly. He added that the switchover to the new type of passports will be carried out in several phases. Osikyan said the biometric passports will ease the procedures for applying for visas and also the work of the police in Armenia.
