Militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) have kidnapped Veysel Celik, head of the Kulp District of the Diyarbakir Province in Turkey, Trend reports.
This is the second kidnapping in the region in recent months. The police are searching for Celik.
The Turkish conflict with the Kurdistan Workers' Party has been ongoing for over 25 years. The PKK demands independence. The conflict has resulted in deaths of over 45,000 people. The UN and the European Union recognize the PKK as a terrorist organization.
