Cooperation of government and religion discussed in Ingushetia

Ingush Leader Yunus-Bek Yevkurov has met Ingush religious and public officials, IslamNews reports.

Yevkurov discussed the moral upbringing of the population and noted that prayers are a way to inform the population about topical issues.

Imams, vice premiers, police authorities, and heads of municipal, federal and republican media were invited for the meeting.

The Ingush leader pointed out such problems as material limitations at weddings, funerals, the settlement of conflicts based on blood feuds, bride kidnappings, centralization of preaching at mosques, religious ceremonies for the 20th anniversary of the republic.

Yevkurov noted that the Religious Center of Ingush Muslims urged expenses for funerals and weddings to be reduced. He emphasized that efforts have managed to bring peace to over 150 families involved in blood feuds. The Teip Council under supervision of Omar Gadaborshev contributed to the positive processes. He ordered settlement of the conflict between the Vadelovs and Merzhoyevs a day before dying.

The Ingush leader recommended muftis and lawmakers to develop proposals of harsher punishments for bride kidnappings.

Yevkurov has also proposed social polls on the most topical issues to be organized by May 30.
